The routine my skin has been loving at 48: A Furtuna Skin review

What I have noticed as I get older is that investing in skincare matters. I’d much rather spend money on quality products that work (versus products to cover it up). I love my skin to glow from within. I am The “Glow” Wellness after all.

I often get asked about my skincare routine on Insta. I have chosen to go the all-natural route, meaning no fillers or neuromodulators (i.e. botox). So it’s taken me a while to find out what works for my skin and doesn’t.

I want to look the best I can at 48 – like myself, but the best version of myself.

A compromised barrier, and why it matters, especially in mid-life

As we get older –particularly as we hit menopause — our skin loses its youthful plumpness and dewiness. And we are left with thinner skin. That’s because the production of collagen – the building block of the skin – decreases after a certain age and, during menopause years, it could drop as much as 30 percent. That’s disastrous for skin integrity. At the same time, elastin – which makes your skin snap back when pinched – also declines massively as does hyaluronic acid, which holds moisture in.

It took a lot of trial and error to get me back to a place where my skin feels nourished, replenished, and supple. Yes. Those are the hallmarks of beautiful skin. For a long time I was using too many stripping ingredients and my skin suffered. My barrier was compromised, which meant my skin was raw and irritated, the opposite of glowing. Then I started experimenting with organic, high-quality lines and I found a product line my skin loved.

My Experience
