Have you been scrolling through your feed and seen creators mentioning face tape and the benefits it has on your skin? This trend has been circulating on TikTok and Instagram feeds and it involves using tape to lift and tighten your facial muscles to train them to minimize movement

In the quest to minimize the effects of aging, I for one am willing to try anything. Hearing this may be a non-invasive option or a “Botox alternative” really piqued my interest. As you know my quest has been to avoid injections- neuromodulators or fillers of any kind (read more about that here).

When purusing social media I was impressed to see so many promising before and afters with people showing smile lines and forehead wrinkles smoothed.

What is ‘Face Taping’?

Face taping visibly smooths and prevents fine lines and wrinkles using strategically placed tape on areas of the face. By wearing overnight, you can constrict muscles and limit their motion, preventing you from frowning or making other line-inducing expressions.

Face taping can be be used for an immediate lifting and smoothing effect. I love that this is both a quick fix for improvement but also shows longer-term promise. And as a side sleeper, I was excited by the prospect of reducing and preventing lines caused by sleeping on your side and stomach.

My personal experience

The Forehead Wrinkle Patches (my favorite, though there are also ones for the chest, eyes, mouth, and hands) contain two 100% medical-grade reusable silicone patches designed to be worn 8-15 times while you sleep.

I washed and dried my face, skipped my usual nightly skincare routine and smoothed the patch on.
